Aren't you hearing a lot of buzz about green jobs? And when the buzz is in the air, do you ask yourself: What are 'green jobs'?
I've been listening to the buzz for a couple of years now and asking these questions of folks across MA. The answers are diverse: green jobs are jobs in renewable energy and energy efficiency, green jobs are pathways out of poverty, green jobs are jobs that connect to the environment and help address climate change.
I'm deeply committed to trying to connect low-income folks to these jobs (when they arrive) and to do that I'm thinking we all need to be really ready to launch training programs, make connections with employers, advocate for policies that build genuine green career pathways that make sense for participants and the growing industries, and help participants flourish in this new green economy.
So, let me (and all of us out here in the blog-o-sphere) know:
We're looking forward to your post.
